Ines de la Fressange is the epitome of a French woman. She’s effortlessly elegant, her hair is always perfectly tousled, and her outfits have a certain je ne sais quoi about them. After all, the woman modeled for Chanel! In order to get a little bit of her style for ourselves, we put together a shoppable edit of her summery look: ballet flats, a summer blazer, and jeans to get you started. Ooh la la!
The outfit formula is simple: classic denim, t-shirt, and summer blazer. Throw on a minimalist pair of ballet flats and a little bit of gold. That’s it!
Classic Denim
J.Crew’s vintage-inspired straight jean in a dark wash is exactly what I think of when it comes to the classic French cut. Everlane’s cheeky jean is a little more now, with a slightly higher waist and more of a crop. And of course, you could always go for a slightly more relaxed slim boyfriend jean in a summery light-wash.
T-Shirt
There are few things better in life than having new, fresh t-shirts. Jenni Kayne’s basic cotton tee is one of my favorites if you feel like splurging a little, but I also stock up on Everlane’s cotton crew regularly. If you’re looking for some shirts with a little more edge, COS always has great shirts that look way more expensive than they are like this one with a longer sleeve.
Summer Blazer
A blazer might seem like a strange thing for summer, but it’s a great way to add polish in an easy, layer-able way. I love double-breasted this sweater-blazer, this super-sleek Club Monaco option, and this J.Crew blazer in a comfy, strechy twill.
Ballet Flats
A classic pair in a cheery red is the sartorial cherry on top of this outfit. You can’t go wrong with Margaux’s Demi shoe, complete with a sweet little bow. J.Crew’s can get you the look for less, and Stuart Weitzman’s if you feel like splurging.
Bling, Bling Baby
Finally, throw on a little bling-y bracelet. Laura Lombardi’s chain-link is a fashion favorite, as is her version of a cable.
