Golf and tennis season is upon us, and here at In The Groove we were issued a challenge. Is it even possible to find cute activewear for our favorite leisure sports? Was it even worth trying? We’ve never met a style challenge we didn’t try to solve, and solve it we did.
First of all, don’t overthink it! With the lines between fashion and activewear blurring more and more every day, some of your favorite activewear brands are putting out pieces that look just as much Alexander Wang as they do sweat-appropriate. This is where Nike comes in. For the past few years, Nike has adopted iconic shoes such as the Roshe and the Air Max into golf and tennis shoes. That means we finally have cute footwear! And don’t forget a chic tote to carry around your new spikes.
Remember what I said about the lines of fashion and sport blending? Tory Burch agrees with me. The designer launched Tory Sport, a new line that focuses on workout out gear as well as golf, tennis, and ski apparel. It turns out her preppy, colorful style blends perfectly into functional, stylish sportswear. The Golf and Tennis sweaters are personal favorites, and work just as well over jeans once you switch from sport to cocktails.
And finally, when in doubt, return to the classics. Ralph Lauren and Lilly Pulitzer both have women’s collections that are full of stylish options. Ralph Lauren’s tailored polo and cashmere knits are as luxe as ever. Lilly Pulitzer’s colorful printed pants and polos even have built in UPF protection, staying true to their Palm Beach roots.
