It’s finally time for holiday dressing! Every year, I look forward to rocking around the Christmas tree in a serious look. There’s no better way to make a statement when you walk into the party in sequins and all of the candlelight is flickering off of you like a human disco ball. Whether you go subtle with shimmer or all-out with sequins, we’ve got the edit that will make you best dressed.
The easiest way to style sequins for me, personally, is with a statement pair of pants or a skirt that I can easily pair with a trusty black sweater. In the header image I’m wearing this fit and flare J.Crew silver skirt. Joe’s Jeans has a gold pair of wide-leg denim that I’m eyeing, WYSE London’s layered silver skirt looks way more expensive than it is, and Tuckernuck’s black knit pants trimmed in feathers has a retro vibe we love.
It doesn’t get more major than this leopard sequin skirt from WYSE London, which is a little more maximalist than the usual holiday party fare. I love that it’s a swingy, A-line shape instead of a more formfitting pencil skirt. The same thing goes for the sequined jewel-toned striped Carrie skirt. The smaller the sequin, the more subtle the shine. I love A.L.C.s origami-esque skirt, with details like precise pleating and an uneven hem. It comes in black sequins or gold vegan leather so you have some options.
If you’re shying away from sparkles, play around with different festive textures like feathers and velvet. Cinq a Sept’s black feather blazer works just as well with slouchy jeans as matching black trousers. J.Crew’s Collection shirt in white is covered in feathers and will last you long past party season. Even if your party wardrobe is already fully built on, you can always make things feel fresh with a new accessory. I’ve been eyeing this clutch from Mango covered in chocolate brown sequins or a fire-engine red.
