If there’s an official fabric of fall, it has to be corduroy. This season, there’s a steady stream of corduroy in chicer-than-usual color palettes. To be clear, we still love the go-to golden brown hue you’re probably thinking of. It feels crisp and slates perfectly into the brown and orange colors of the season. Everlane’s wide-leg pants which launched about a month ago and almost sold out, prove that it still feels relevant this season. Plus, Everlane’s corduroy is wider and softer than the average corduroy fabric, proving that they are the epitome of attention to detail in fashion these days.
But the corduroy status piece this fall? A bone-white chore jacket, slightly oversized and utilitarian. It works extremely well as a layering piece, so its versatility will take you through the next few months. Right now, we’re wearing it over a t-shirt when the air is crisp outside. Later though, we’ll be throwing on our favorite ribbed turtlenecks or crewnecks to stay warm. For max style points, consider throwing on a pair of straight trousers in the same color to update the monochrome look.
If that’s a little too much look for you, no worries. One of our other favorite ways to wear corduroy is by slipping into a navy flared pair and styling them like we would our favorite jeans. Imagine this pair from Levi’s with a white button down, the perfect ankle boots, and your go-to belt.
Finally, the jumpsuit trend isn’t slowing down anytime soon. The boiler suit silhouette gets a new twist in black corduroy jumpsuit at Anthropologie, and it’s the easiest outfit. Just throw on whatever your favorite accessories are at the moment and watch the compliments roll in.
