The jumpsuit is your new fashion secret weapon, specifically this season’s boiler suit. There’s nothing better than only having to make one decision about what to wear, and that’s exactly what you get with a jumpsuit. Pulled together and even elegant, jumpsuits are easy to wear. Now that we’ve established the why of it all, let’s move on to the fun part: how you’re going to wear it.
The major jumpsuit this fall is utilitarian inspired, which means think olive, khakis and navy in comfortable and casual lines inspired by the military. That means lots of pockets, a huge win for everyone. That also means the fit, although all similar if you squint, can vary from fitted to loose for your own comfort. Want something a little bit snugger to show off your waist? Everlane’s new jumpsuit comes with a belt, and is cut a little closer through the torso. Want to pull the cool girl card in something baggy? The Viona Jumpsuit by Closed was made for you. Have the best of both worlds in this white jumpsuit from Topshop, which has a fitted waist but loose legs thanks to the zipper detailing.
Once you’ve picked your jumpsuit, it’s on to the styling! Personally, we’re big fans of throwing on a pair of white sneakers, but the possibilities are endless. Mango is showing their olive jumpsuit tucked into a pair of black cowboy boots, getting two trends into one outfit. This Alex Mill jumpsuit in pink is summery enough for right now with a pair of leather slides or barely-there heels, but would look just as great through September with a pair of ballet flats. And because the outfit is relatively lowkey, feel free to go wild with accessories. Want to layer up on a bunch of gold necklaces? Absolutely! Big, beaded earrings? Go for it!
