What are we actually buying for the summer? The ITG editors are keeping it fun this summer, with lots of textured knits, colorful accessories, and breezy separates like poplin pants and button down shirts. Shop our carts now and find your new favorite piece.
When I’m shopping for new summer things, I try to be reasonable. I never want to spend too much money, and ideally I can also style the pieces in spring or fall. Take these blood orange drawstring poplin pants from Banana Republic. Wear it now with a tank and sandals, or later with your favorite boots and a chunky sweater. A chocolate brown striped button down, like this one from Dissh, works with Bermuda shorts or your favorite jeans. This pink and white striped or this blue and white striped shirt are also very compelling.
Accessories are such a great way to spruce up your summer wardrobe. I mean, when else does it feel right to pop on these shell earrings with rhinestone detail? Eliou is a treasure trove for great fashion jewelry, but those earrings are the cream of the crop. A raffia clutch with sleek, minimal lines that you can use as a shoulder bag or a clutch? It’s a no-brainer, especially under $100.
I realized the other day that I absolutely needed a pair of snake print sandals. The print is everywhere right now! It feels sexy, fresh, and adds the perfect amount of edge. These A.Emery ankle-wrap sandals have an asymmetrical silhouette, and they come in around $200.
Oh, and I grabbed these J.Crew beach pants with fun pom poms on them. I needed a new cover up! But I discovered that I wear them out and about just as often, as long as I have a shirt that goes past my butt. It’s my way of doing this summer’s sheer trend without showing too much skin. And every time I’ve worn them, I’ve gotten a compliment!
