Somewhere in between a jacket and a sweater, I first noticed these ladylike, Chanel-y sweaters in J.Crew’s new spring collection. And then they started popping up everywhere else, too! I love the fun colors they come in, and the instant texture it adds to any outfit. Plus, these lady jackets come at a much friendlier price point than a classic Chanel jacket.
In the header image, I’m wearing this J.Crew jacket. I love the white and the cream neutral base, and the navy blue border gives it just the right amount of color that still goes with everything. It’s somewhere in between a cardigan and a jacket, which is perfect for transitional spring. J.Crew has a lot of great jackets, each with the classic-with-a-twist angle Olympia Gayot has brought to the brand. For example, look at this quilted elegant jacket, done in denim! There’s also this sweater blazer in cream with black piping for a more fitted look.
Okay, not done with J.Crew yet. Another absolute standout is this sunshine-y, lemon meringue gingham jacket. It even comes with a matching skirt, if you want to go for a full 90s Chanel vibe, but it doesn’t seem too sweet thanks to the yellow. On the opposite end of the spectrum, this all-black minimal jacket
There’s so many ways to play around with proportions with this kind of jacket, and there are some especially good cropped ones. They would go really well with this season’s wide-leg trousers and jeans. Veronica Beard’s khaki jacket feels utilitarian but chic, like Ralph Lauren meets Chanel. Paige has a lovely, tweed-y ice blue cropped blazer with minimalist lines. For a similar streamlined, modern approach, this ivory Rag & Bone jacket I really love AQUA’s more classic, black and white tweed jacket. Even down to the silver buttons!
