Every stylish woman has a leather jacket in their closet. It’s one of the rare pieces that always look cool, in every era. It’s about finding the right kind of leather jacket for you. Cropped, slouchy, moto, collarless – we’ve found all the best leather jackets, and now we’re sharing them with you.
When you think of a leather jacket, you probably think of the motorcycle jacket. Classic, cool, downtown. It adds instant edge to any outfit. And, like all truly great pieces of fashion, they look better with age. I’m wearing Quince’s version, which is an absolute steal for 100% leather at only $150. There’s a slightly oversized version, too, that still comes in under $200.
But maybe the motorcycle jacket feels a little too edgy. You can go for something a little more minimal, a little bit cleaner. I love the mod-ish appeal of a cropped leather zip jacket, like this Madewell version or Quince’s version. It adds some feminine appeal to a more traditionally masculine look.
Leather blazers, like this Veronica Beard one, is an easy way to make leather feel a little more modern. The details on the Veronica Beard one specifically are great, with an elongated length and a beautiful gold button that feels like jewelry.
And then there are the kinds of leather jackets that feel unexpected, that change your idea of what a leather jacket is. For me, that’s this AllSaints leather bomber. It’s the perfect amount of slouch, but never veers into sloppy or too oversized. It goes a little past your waist, which means you can wear it with your high-waisted and low-waisted pants. I’m obsessed with the shape of it, so different from the usual cool girl motorcycle jacket. And if you’re really looking for something different, it’s time to go for brown! I love this LaMarque brown leather bomber, which reminds me of something Ralph Lauren would wear.
