I started playing Mahjong just before the pandemic—and from the very first game, I was hooked.
I’ve always loved games and puzzles, so Mahjong was right up my alley. But what I didn’t expect was how much I’d love the social side of it. At first, I played with a small group of women. We’d gather at someone’s home for dinner, pour a glass of wine, and play for a few hours. Honestly…what could be better? Mahjong, friends, and a little wine—it’s my kind of evening.
These days, my golf friends organize regular Mahj games at the club. I don’t make it as often as I’d like, but whenever I do, I always leave thinking: I need to do that more often. And apparently, we’re not alone. What was once thought of as an “old ladies game” has become wildly popular—and not just with women of a certain age. Mahjong has officially gone mainstream, and with that has come a whole world of beautiful, fun, and surprisingly chic Mahjong-inspired finds.
