Just like the birds that fly south around this time of the year, I’ve noticed more and more friends of mine flocking to warm weather. It’s one of the biggest perks of getting older is having the freedom to go wherever you want! And if you’re sunning this winter, you’re going to need a resort refresh.Think flowy, floral sundresses, chic new sandals, and of course a bathing suit. Slip on some sunglasses, and you’re good to have fun in the sun.
Separates
Yes, you might be in sun during the day, but the weather doesn’t necessarily mean shorts. Keep it breezy in easy pants and light-weight shirts, so you’re not shivering every time the sun goes behind a cloud. Frank & Eileen chinos, Anthropologie’s utility pants, and Madewell’s cropped bone-colored jeans are all great options. Go for a holiday update with Frank & Eileen’s shirts that are colorful – like this blue plaid option or this cheery pink print. The pockets on this oversized button-down are a fun detail.
Dresses
When in doubt, throw on a dress. They can take you from the pool as a coverup to window shopping to a cheery happy hour. Anthropologie’s Somerset dress gives you the drama of a orange-y red shade and the comfort of a t-shirt dress. This geometric, colorful chiffon dress ups the glamour factor for anyone. AQUA’s white, gauzy shirtdress just begs to be worn on the beach. A breezy, blue dress from Poupette St. Barth is the picture of tropical perfection.
Sandals
You knew I was going to suggest Birkenstocks, right? The Kyoto sandal is one of their chicest models ever, and I get a fresh pair of white Arizonas every year.
Beach-Ready Bags
You’re going to need something to hold your sandy towels and beach reads. You can’t go wrong with a classic, like this L.L. Bean Nor’easter tote. If you want to treat yourself to a splurge, we’re obsessed with this Ulla Johnson straw bag, from the beautiful striping to the dramatic tassels. This Madewell Bembien tote is somewhere between the two.
