The beginning of the year is a perfect time to reflect and do some introspection. Rituals can feel just as luxurious and indulgent as anything else. A long walk in the morning, taking the time to write in your journal, or even just a relaxing bath at the end of the night are some of my favorites. So, this email is all about rituals. I’ve included some of my favorite things that can help you create your own rituals too.
Let’s start with my favorite ritual: a long bath at the end of the night. Maybe with a book and a glass of wine, depending on if you’re doing Dry January or not. The key to a truly luxurious bath? First, it starts before you even get in the bath with a good dry brushing session to help improve your circulation and slough off dry skin. Then you’re going to need a candle (I love Jenni Kayne’s Cedar Glass) and a bath soak. My current favorite is Goop’s Martini soak, which is supposed to help you emotionally detox. Herbivore’s set of Soak and Soften works wonders, too. You can also treat yourself to the full Gwyneth experience with her Spa Kit!
Working out is a ritual, too, and it’s easy to do some mind-body work at home. Stretching out on a really nice yoga mat gives your body the time and luxury of recovery. I’m also obsessed with my acupuncture mat, which I love rolling out on.
Another ritual I’m trying to establish right now: journaling. I love the idea of writing something down every day, whether it’s coming from a place of gratitude and prompted writing or just a writing down a funny thing that happened. When you have a beautiful journal, that certainly helps. I’m using a Leatherology leather-bound journal in a fun color, like this cherry red or this bright blue. This cute red leather journal would also be a great gift for girlfriends this Valentine’s.
