I’ve been drawn to a lot of softer elements this spring. A lot of pink, swishy skirts, and the timeless shirtdress. It’s elegant, it’s chic, and it’s an instant outfit! We put together an edit of our favorite stylish shirt dresses to swan around in this spring and summer.
You can always count on Tory Burch for ladylike, elevated pieces – and the silk shirtdress I’m wearing in the header image is a perfect example. I love the cream-and-green color palette, the midi length, and of course the twisty rope pattern that feels extra springy right now. A different silk shirtdress features adorable illustrations of mushrooms and other magical forest-y botanicals, all cinched together with a built-in belt and chic gold buckle.
Finally, for a crisper take on the silhouette, look no further than this pleated black poplin number. I love the precision of the collar and sleeves. In fact, poplin is a great way to keep your sundress from feeling too slouchy. I love J.Crew’s take on it this season with their Elena shirtdress, slightly shirred at the waist for a super flattering fit. It comes in black, which always feels unexpected in the summer to me, and a brighter blue-and-white stripe.
Linen blends are a fantastic way to stay cool in the upcoming long summer days, and I love the contrast of a more formal dress silhouette with the texture and crumple of linen. This J.McLaughlin dress in bubblegum pink, Gap’s cream-colored dress, and Veronica Beard’s camel-colored showstopper are all great options.
