There’s just something sexy about silk. It can make even the most conservative silhouette feel slinky instead of severe. That’s why it’s become one of my go-to fabrics in the summer, when I don’t want to show a ton of skin. Below: a few of our favorite silky separates we’re reaching for right now.
With the last days of summer, I’m leaning into twirly skirts. Right now I’m wearing this pleated Vince skirt with a t-shirt and my favorite sandals, but it’ll be just as easy to swap out for a cashmere sweater and my favorite ankle boots when the weather drops. I love the rich olive green shade of this Mango skirt, the extra-long length of this pearly white Vince skirt, or this other pleated option from J.Crew.
If you throw on something silky, like this honey-colored hooded shirt from Vince with your favorite pair of jeans, you immediately have an unfussy but sexy date night outfit. It’s all about the contrast of the two fabrics. Mango’s marshmallow white silky button down is a little more subtle. The deep teal of this Rails dress sets it apart from a lot of the Carolyn Bessette Kennedy lookalike slip dresses out there.
One of my favorite ways to wear silk? In an elastic-waisted pant! It’s like a super luxe, elegant upgrade to your favorite pair of pajamas. The silk really makes the silhouette feel dressy but doesn’t sacrifice anything when it comes to comfort. J.Crew’s champagne colored satin pant, DISSH’s white cupro pants, or Reformation’s black Olina silk pant are all fantastic, easy to wear pieces. On the edgier side of things, Vince’s steel blue cropped cargo pants are a fun statement piece that will get you out of your style comfort zone.
