I’m not sure when it happened, but more and more often I’ve been relying on my dresses. An chic, throw-on-whenever dress is incredibly versatile. If you pick a dress with a splash of color it can be the easiest statement outfit in your closet. I picked out a few of my favorite spring dresses from Nordstrom, and thought I’d show you how I dress them up or down. From the farmer’s market to drinks with friends, these outfits shine all day long.
Solids
In hot weather, there’s nothing better than a crisp white dress. I love this Madewell pintuck dress with subtle ruffles, and the elevated Ulla Johnson version with voluminous sleeves. On the slightly more colorful side of things, this sky blue Kobi Halperin dress that mixes silk and cotton for a different kind of high and low mix.
On trend with fashion’s current color obsession, this kelly green stunner from Co is long-sleeved and pleated for an elegant dress. Mara Hoffman, a designer known for her femme dresses, has a square neckline and pretty bow around the waist on the brand’s Shay dress to create something truly special. This Brigitte Herskind dress is technically a print, but the tone-on-tone striping makes for a subtle take.
Prints
In the words of Miranda Priestly, florals for spring might not seem groundbreaking but that doesn’t mean they’re not lovely. This La Ligne periwinkle-and-white dress is the one I’m wearing in the header image, and I’ve been wearing it non-stop these past few weeks. Have any garden party weddings coming up? You’ll be a best-dressed guest in this brightly colored Cara Cara dress, this La Ligne navy and floral silk dress, or this short-sleeve Badgley Mischka floral option. For a more avant-garde interpretation, this AFRM dress uses exaggerated scale and fun colors for a dress that looks more like a Warhol print than a piece of clothing.
