A striped sweater is a perfect piece to take you from now into spring. I love it dark with a light stripe or light with a dark stripe. It goes with anything – leather pants now, or white jeans later. A pair of boots or your favorite sandals. And if you tend to dress in more neutrals, it can be the statement piece to pull your whole outfit together.
We’re not reinventing the wheel here, but there is a silhouette that feels especially fresh right now: the oversized half-zip. COS has a great cotton-and-wool blend version that also has a fun big collar. Mango’s version is slightly preppier thanks to the perma-popped collar, and I love the cream-and-tan option too! Faherty’s Mariner sweater adds a little bit of texture with the ribbed sweater, and the navy-and-white color palette lives up to the Mariner name.
Of course, you can’t go wrong with a classic crewneck. La Ligne’s cream with blue sweater is one of the best in the business. This navy Michael Star’s sweater is a little cropped in the front, perfect for wearing with your favorite high-waisted jeans. For a thicker, more modern stripe – this & Other Stories black and cream sweater feels contemporary.
A cardigan, especially one as ladylike and pretty as this Boden one that gives us Chanel vibes, will work from now through the summer. And quick, before it warms up, there are some really pretty turtlenecks! I love the extra-wide rib on the cuffs and hems on this Veronica Beard sweater. Anine Bing’s crisp turtleneck is a similar look, but a little more stiff (in a good way!).
On the brighter side of things, this Boden sweater is a white sweater with a cheery royal blue stripe. I also love the collar and open v-neck.
