Stripes have always been one of my go-to patterns. They can be chic, playful, sporty, nautical – just about anything! Right now, I’m really digging a classic blue-and-white version as we look forwards to spring and summer. It’s an easy way to add a little bit more interest to your usual look, whether you’re swapping out your go-to button down for a menswear-inspired stripe or slipping into a new swimsuit, we’ve got all the best stripes for spring.
Let’s start with the staples! A striped button-down is a necessity, whether you tuck it into crisp white trousers or just wear with your favorite jeans. A cropped navy-and-white cardigan will keep you cozy all the way through summer nights. And of course, there’s the bateau tee. Kule’s Boyfriend Bundle stripe and Goop’s Rufus tees are two great examples.
For a more American spin on the pattern, you can’t go wrong with a crisp blue-and-white Ralph Lauren shirtdress, complete with popped collar. Kobi Halperin’s dress has a more boho spin and a rainbow of colors, but is just as pretty for hot summer days. How about a periwinkle-and-white bandeau swimsuit for long days by the pool?
One of the freshest takes on stripes? Mix-matching everything about the pattern – whether it’s different colors or different sizes. It feels classic but current, which is the kind of trend we can get behind. Alex Mill was one of the first places we noticed this trend. Their Wyatt shirt might have a lot going on, but it never feels busy. Instead, it feels like an easy way to upgrade your daily uniform. The Francoise tee updates the French girl classic in a way that feels distinctly American.
