There’s nothing sexier than suede. Blazers, purses, boots, skirts – this year it’s everywhere. After lusting after pieces in editorials for the past month, things are finally available to buy. It just looks rich. The best part? Suede will never go out of style, so you can wear these pieces for years to come.
When I was browsing the street style images from Fashion Week, suede jackets were one of the first trends I noticed pop up over and over again. The most popular version was an oversized shacket silhouette that you can shrug in and out of effortlessly, like this chocolate brown Madewell version. A more formal option would be a blazer, like this light brown, sharp shouldered option or Veronica Beard’s signature beige dickey jacket. Brochu Walker’s oversized shearling vest is a perfect layering piece for colder nights ahead.
Ever since the Margaux bag took over every fashionista’s wish lists, I’ve been eyeing a suede bag. Veronica Beard’s Dash bag has a more refined primness to it, whereas Parker Thatch’s Everyday tote has the effortless slouch of the Margaux. J.Crew’s everyday tote is halfway between the two with a geometric appeal.
And then, we have the shoes. There’s something incredibly decadent about wearing suede on your feet. Just make sure you cover them with some protective repellant before you take them out for a spin in winter sludge. These knee-high dark brown riding boots from rag & bone, J.Crew’s short ankle boots, and Emme Parsons’ sleek loafers are all a worthy addition to your wardrobe.
Maybe you want just a touch? Lately I feel like a belt has been the key to really pulling all of my outfits together. They make me feel properly styled, you know? This dark brown belt with white stitching from rag & bone feels a little more personal than the usual plain black. I also love the round buckle of this brown B-Low the Belt.
