Summer dresses are easy, breezy, and beautiful. I still wear my tailored separates and slouchy denim, but I reach for dresses just as often now. They’re feminine, they’re fun, and most of all? They’re comfortable! No tight waistbands, no claustrophobic fabric. Just dresses! Which is exactly what I want to wear all summer long, whether I’m on date night or running errands.
For streamlined, well-designed minimalism I always know I can rely on COS. Their tiered, color-blocked maxi dress in different shades of tan is a masterclass in tone-on-tone dressing. Mango’s linen dress is the kind of dress that can become a uniform, because it goes with everything and you can style it a bunch of different ways. J.Crew’s button-down dress feels retro and femme.
Eyelet is the most summery fabric of them all, and I love this Anthropologie dress with a pretty sleeve. Natalie Martin’s white dress is the perfect outfit for swanning around a tropical vacation, or even just on your way to the pool. And speaking of tropical, this Farm Rio dress has a large scale collage print with fun elements like animal print, plants, and vibrant colors. I love the tactile, imperfect polka dots of this coral dress.
Patterns are one of the biggest trends this season, and gingham is my favorite. It’s playful and fun but can still be polished, like this Mango puff-sleeve version. This dress from Kate Spade is a little dressier, and would be such a fun option at any weddings you have this summer. Speaking of Kate Spade, this cheery daisy print dress is a fresh take on the florals trend. LoveShackFancy’s striped, tiered dress in light blue and white is an absolute showstopper.
