Straw bags? For spring and summer? It’s not exactly groundbreaking, but it’s definitely still chic. The summery accessory works from the beach to the farmers market to your next date night, and we rounded up our favorites of the season just for you.
My favorite thing about the straw bag? You don’t have to spend a lot for the look. COS’s leather-and-straw structured tote looks a lot more expensive than the less than $200 price tag. It’s sleek and minimal and strikingly cool. For a slinkier, more casual look you can’t go wrong with an oversized shopper. Aqua’s slouchy straw tote is a perfect beach day bag, as is Vince’s (slightly pricier) oversized tote.
On the other side of the purse spectrum, you have the smaller bags. Something for a lady who lunches or a night out at a fun restaurant. J.Crew’s wicker clutch is a standout. I love the half-moon shape and the rigidity of the wicker. J. McLaughlin has two different great options: one in a brown-and-tan stripe, one with a neon green leather accent. These woven natural fiber clutches from Mango come in a Morocco-y color palette like brick reds, dark browns, and sandy beige.
I’ve been fairly responsible when it comes to pricing so far, but I should add one deeply indulgent purse I just can’t seem to stop thinking about: Saint Laurent’s Le 37 bucket bag in a woven straw. Luckily, you can get the look for less from J.McLaughlin’s woven straw bag! Of all the designers, I think the YSL bags are the chicest. The Panier, an extremely prim and proper structured lady tote, is another great example. Chloe’s Marcie bucket bag channels the brand’s boho cool into a slouchy, throw-and-go bag too.
