We’re not all the way to fall weather yet, but in LA it has started getting chillier in the mornings and at night. Maybe that’s why I’ve been reaching for my sweater vests so much lately. I get a little bit of extra warmth when I need it, and they’re easy to take on and off throughout the day. When it comes to layering, they add so much charm and texture to an outfit. The classic way to wear them has been layering them over a t-shirt or button-down. For me, I’m more drawn to a v-neck if I’m layering. This navy v-neck one from Jones is a great, simple option. On the thicker end of fabrics, this Kooples ribbed option will keep you warm through winter. For a bit of a preppy vibe, you can’t go wrong with Mango’s white-and-navy vest that looks like something Robert Redford would wear in The Way We Were.
One of my favorite styles of tank is a thick cable-knit one. It can add so much texture and interest to an outfit, especially if you’re into a monochrome look like this J.Crew’s shrunken version which is especially chic with gold buttons. Kule’s the Juno sweater has a slightly dropped sleeve, which gives you a little more coverage.
A sweater vest layered over a white t-shirt or shirt with your favorite jeans is another way to easily add some color! Boden’s cashmere tank in a bright cobalt blue or ME + EM’s olive green relaxed-fit sweater are both options that would work for even the color averse. You can count on J.Crew for a ton of color options, like Kelly green, bright berry, and even a groovy patterned one!
