Ever since Prada and Kate Spade brought nylon into the mainstream, tech fabrics have been fashionable. And with the rise of athleisure, I’ve been wearing these tech-y pants more than ever. They’re more versatile than you might think! I love wearing mine with a blazer and heels as much as I do with sneakers.
In the header image, I’m wearing these Lululemon cargo pants in a green gray shade. My favorite part of the pants? The fabric! It’s a nylon-y fabric that reminds me of 90s Prada. Who says function and fashion can’t coexist? There are some similar silhouettes that also comes in a wintry snow white color and a slate blue shade.
Brands like Alo and Athleta are blending the line between fashion and fitness, and there are a few key elements that make them so successful. The best pants have a wider leg. Remember: leggings are not pants! While I love leggings for a long walk or working out, personally I have a hard time making them feel fashionable. These high-waisted cream cargo pants, these black trouser pants, or these wide leg, espresso-colored pants all look as stylish with a blazer as a sweatshirt.
Of course, there are more casual options. Something that feels more like an elevated sweatpants than a trouser replacement. The midnight blue of this Athleta jogger sets you apart from the swaths of black ones, and it’s a little less harsh. Alo Yoga’s navy suit up trouser has an elastic band, which is on trend with the boxer-esque pants popping up everywhere. For something even more polished, ADAY’s pleated, cropped pant is a cigarette pant for the ages.
