Who doesn’t remember their first? Well, first pair of loafers that is. My first pair came in a navy blue box from Brooks Brothers and Mom gave me two shiny dimes to put where the pennies were supposed to go, just in case I needed to make an emergency phone call. Ah bliss, well bliss, after the blisters healed because those suckers took months to break in, but once soft , they were my ride or dies and loafers of many colors still are the show we slip into almost every day.
The dictionary calls a loafer “ a person who idles time away” but our loafers are far from “idle.” Our loafers go everywhere and do everything and this newest list of favorites feature pops of color, chunks of heels, chain link and for the Gucci set –those iconic horse bits.
