Every season there’s a tidal wave of trends that, frankly, can be pretty overwhelming. Not to mention how ridiculous some of them can seem to us. Bike shorts? Absolutely not. Micro-purses? You can’t even fit anything in them! So we sorted through every trend for you guys, and came out on the other side with a handy guide to the three trends that are perfect for us this fall.

1. Lavender
The color palette of summer was full of bright, saturated shades inspired by Vitamin C. Think mango, oranges, and yellows. This season, the shade that’s going to be everywhere is lavender. All shades of purple are having a moment, but we’re partial to the pastel version. Cozy sweaters to wear with your favorite jeans, hammered silk midi skirts to wear with heeled slouchy boots, and even trousers all feel fresh in the lilac shade. If you really love the color, then go all-in on a statement-making trench from RAINS that you can wear all the way through spring.
2. Square Toed Shoes
Whether you’re into boots or ballet flats, there’s one design detail dominating the shoe landscape. The square toe is back, and it’s revitalizing silhouettes that previously felt stuffy and old-fashioned. Everlane’s 90’s inspired flat in brown crocodile elevates what would have been a relatively plain shoe. Rag & Bone’s Aslen boot is the perfect, everyday black boot. The Scuola loafer comes in an eye-catching color palette of cream, navy, and tan.
3. Blazers
Suiting isn’t going anywhere. In fact, it’s turning out to be the definitive trend of the fall. But if a full-blown suit feels a little formal for you, don’t worry. Take the tailoring aspect and apply it to a sharp blazer. The season’s tailoring is menswear-inspired, a little oversized but still structured. But not everyone loves the boxy look, so throw on a belt if you want to show off that waist of yours. This orange blazer from Mango comes with the belt, if you’re still loving summer colors. J.Crew has a fantastic one in gray that also comes with the belt. Vince’s flannel boyfriend blazer is the perfect silhouette for the season, and you can grab your favorite belt to give it a more cinched look.
