Almost every time I leave my house, I go through a checklist: keys, wallet, phone, and sunglasses. Sunglasses are so important for protecting your eyes from the sun – why wouldn’t you want them to be super stylish, too? This season, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite designer lenses that are worth the splurge. From femme cat-eyes to cutting edge silver frames, Bloomingdale’s has the sunglasses you’ll wear all the way through summer.
Sunglasses are all about the shape, and there’s not a more classic shape than the aviator. They’re casual and cool, and very Top Gun. Gucci’s version isn’t too over-the-top, sleek with gold hardware. In the header image, I’m wearing black rimless ones from Saint Laurent, which is a fresh take on the silhouette.
Cat-eye lenses are femme and nostalgic, adding a little bit of French flair to every outfit. So it makes perfect sense that Celine has created a modern, fabulous cat eye called the Triomphe. Saint Laurent, another of the French heritage houses, does a razor sharp cat-eye in a fun clear peachy nude. And, as always, there is Prada – a brand that always does feminine sensibility is a modern, interesting way. I love the extra thick size of these black frames. The all-black is a Prada signature, but this warm brown tortoiseshell pair might be my favorite for summer.
Jackie O was always famously wearing large, oval sunglasses, and so the shape has a ladylike feel to it even now. Loewe, which is only getting better every season, has a remarkable pair of oval sunglasses that make me feel like a very, very stylish bug. In the best way, of course. They come in black and red, and a very good slightly rectangular frame comes in a tortoiseshell.
