Quilted jackets and lightweight puffers are a perfect transitional piece. They’re easy to layer, deliver just the right amount of fall with an autumnal color, and feel like you’re snuggling into a blanket. How much better can it get? Not to mention they look extremely chic. Whether you go cropped or long, colorful or black, the quilted puffer trend is sticking around for fall.
Let’s start with a cropped, lighter jacket. Right now, this is the kind of jacket I’m gravitating towards – I throw it on over a t-shirt during chilly mornings and then can take it off when things warm up. This Jane Post jacket in electric blue is an instant outfit. J.Crew’s Puffer Lady jacket gives you the lady-who-lunches vibe in a more casual, cool way. Their quilted shacket in a rosy pink is also a fun, unexpected color for fall.
Looking ahead, it’ll be cold before we know it. You’re going to need to bundle up properly! A good puffer coat, like this black cropped one from Gap or this longer cream-colored option will keep you looking good as you dash from your car to your destination. I also love this Free People maxi jacket in a rich, burnt Sienna.
For a more high-fashion take on the silhouette, you can’t go wrong with Toteme’s classic signature coat, complete with a flared open collar and bell sleeves. Their shorter, crew-neck jacket is worthy of a look too. And finally, one of the trendiest coats of the season: their Scarf Detail jacket! It comes with a built-in scarf, for an extra-chic but still timeless look. It’s an investment, but one that’s definitely worth it. For a more wallet-friendly piece, Ganni’s ripstop jacket in an earthy brown has a fun, femme collar with it’s diamond-patterned quilt.
