I can’t be the only person who dreads the thought of putting on heels, or even something as structured as a loafer. It’s been a big flip-flops and slippers quarantine season for me, and while one day I’ll be very excited to get dressed up and go somewhere, the time is not right now. And as places start to open up – doctor’s offices, take-out coffee shops, limited hours for certain retail stores – I need to start wearing shoes again. Specifically, sneakers.
I’m very excited about this pair of Nike Reacts in an extremely on-trend color way of sherbet-y orange and white. They’re interesting enough to make an outfit, but still neutral enough to run errands in. The Cortez is one of my favorite Nike shoes, and every season they release one that’s seriously fashionable. This year, it’s a muted tan, pink, and yellow version that looks way more expensive than the $70 price tag.
Maybe you don’t want muted at all. Maybe you want something bright and flashy, like this all-gold Air Max 90. Or Stella McCartney’s Adidas collaboration might be more your style. This black sneaker with neon yellow and pink accents is a perfect way to do the neon trend in a smaller way. Or this sunny orange and yellow pair.
The Commes des Garçons x Converse collaboration is a classic for a reason – it’s cheeky but still elegant, and goes with just about everything. This white-and-gingham pair from Tretorn is appropriately summery. Stan Smith’s are another classic, but this pair with snakeskin accents give it an instant update. If that’s not quite enough snakeskin for you, try this pair from P488. The all-over print in a light tan is undeniably summery, and almost looks like raffia from afar.
