There’s just something chic about a plain black pair of jeans. It goes with everything, it’s super flattering, and you can dress them up or down easily. As the days get shorter and the temperatures get lower, I find myself reaching for my black denim more often than my sun-bleached light wash. Straight-leg, flared, boot-cut, skinny – there are so many different denim flavors, you just need to find the one that’s right for you.
Right now, there are two styles of denim on heavy rotation for me. I love a cropped flare (the better to show off my boots with) and a slightly slouchy high-waisted pair. On the cropped end of things, this pair of Anine Bing black jeans is absolutely killer. J.Crew’s demi-boot flare is more subtle, and can easily be dressed up for the more professional moments in your life.
On the more relaxed side of things, J.Crew’s cropped, slightly tapered pair is perfect for showing off loafers or Birkenstocks. COS even has a longer version of the silhouette.
Still rocking your skinnies? We’ve got you covered, too! Of course, J.Crew has the classic toothpick – COS has a skinny mid-rise cut long through the leg that looks especially great with an oversized white shirt. While it’s not a true skinny, Raey’s straight-leg jeans are the perfect running errand uniform. MOTHER’s extra high-waist and straight-cut pair mean it looks just as good with a perfectly tailored blazer as it does with a t-shirt.
Banana Republic has a pair of high-waisted, full flares that adds a bit of drama. Mother’s The Tripper jeans keep the vibe high and tight as well. Speaking of drama, a bit of wax coating gives this pair of Frame denim an extra sleek, high-wattage dose of glam.
