Raise your hand if you’ve been living in your sweatpants lately. Yeah, same. Or at least, I was at first, back when this quarantine seemed like it would only take a week or two and the whole thing had a “week in between Christmas and New Years” lawlessness to it. Now, we know it’s a little more serious. We’re in it for the long haul. And when I wake up in the morning, the first thing I reach for is a pair of comfy pants that are not sweats. After all, I can’t control when this is over, but I can always control what I’m wearing.
A pair of real pants makes me feel like I can be productive and like I’ve pulled myself together. The key is slightly tailored silhouettes in cozy, comfy fabrics. That means wide-legs, elastic waistbands, and joggers abound. Here are some of my favorites.
You know I love H&M, for their affordable price points and trendy fashion pieces. These wide-leg pants in an on-trend ochre color make me feel fully dressed, even if I just throw a t-shirt on with it. I’m not wearing a lot of shoes these days, but I can’t wait to wear them with chic leather sandals. COS’s cotton poplin trousers are crisp but oversized, so you don’t have to sacrifice any comfort. These black linen pants are also on the high style, little effort spectrum.
In fact, let’s do a deeper dive into linen. These sand colored, elegant linen trousers look like they’re straight out of a Nancy Meyers heroine’s closet. And on the plus side, they’re pants that will carry you through the summer. These James Perse canvas-linen pants in a soothing gray are a little more casual, but no less stylish.
