One of the bigger trends this season? Longer skirts. The feminine, ladylike trend is all over the place, but the version I like the most is a denim skirt. It makes the skirt feel a little more casual and wearable for the everyday. It’s also a transitional season superpower, since you can style it with your favorite boots and sweaters if it’s still chilly. I’m loving mine with slingbacks and t-shirts later.
A good way to keep the look from feeling too conservative? Picking one with a slit in the front, which shows a little bit of skin. I love COS’s version, which is a little less fitted and more of a column skirt. The blue wash feels fashion-y, too, especially if you pair with a matching jean top. You can count of Anthropologie for feminine but still modern vibe, and this long skirt is just that.
Another way of creating a slightly more fitted version is with this Banana Republic skirt. It’s a dark dark indigo, which is super flattering, and has more of a pencil skirt silhouette. This Hudson Jeans skirt has a similar pencil-y shape, but in a beachier pale blue color. For a sleeker, more professional look, J.Crew’s indigo version has no stitching – so it really looks a business casual skirt! Mango’s skirt is a wallet-friendly entry into the trend, with slightly retro detailing in the belt.
Boden’s button-down version is a mod take, but I love that the gold buttons end up feeling like jewelry. For a completely different silhouette, Mother Denim’s version is a flattering fit and flare that adds a little drama. I’d love it with a knee-high boot and white t-shirt!
