They say that April showers bring May flowers, and while they’re usually talking about flourishing gardens, I’m talking about the abundance of floral prints all around. It feels like after a year of sweats, people want to dress as colorfully as possible. From flouncy maxi dresses to feminine blouses, we picked (no pun intended) out some of the prettiest prints for you to add to your blooming closet.
The easiest way to work a little extra floral flair into your wardrobe? With a cute blouse! J.Crew’s collection of pieces with Liberty prints never disappoints, and this ruffle-neck shirt in a purple-y palette and this popover are timeless options. The muted, watercolor pattern of this blouse from French brand Sezane is a very different vibe from most of the florals out there. I love this off-the-shoulder blue and white shirt from Tuckernuck, which is begging for a summer bbq.
What about the perfect spring-to-summer sundress? I’ve been wearing more sundresses than ever before – I think because they feel fancy but are still super comfy. This RHODE dress is a total showstopper and you can dress it up to a wedding or down to a lady-who-lunches vibe. La Ligne’s navy-and-white dress is a similar vibe, but a more modern floral print. & Other Stories’s shirt dress is crisp and minimalist, kind of like something you would expect to see on particularly chic woman at the art museum.
You know I can’t resist a pair of fashion Tevas, and these daisy-patterned Kurt Geigers are whimsical without being childish. I’m going to wear them with white jeans all summer long. These Veronica Beard loafers would look great with white jeans too, if you need something a little dressier. On the more casual side: sneakers! These Liberty print sneakers from J.Crew or this vintage-inspired pair from Vans are both on heavy rotation.
