I’ve been wearing my sneakers for so long that my sandal game has been seriously neglected. Luckily, if you snag a few of these kinds of sandals, you’ll be set for the summer. A sporty sandal that you can dress up or down and wear with everything, a barely-there heel for balmy summer nights, and comfortable but chic fisherman’s sandal for long, lazy strolls in the sun.
A few years ago, Chanel came out with a quilted leather sandal that looked like a TEVA, and everyone went crazy for it. It’s still quite the IT shoe, but Prada’s newest summer offerings have taken over for the designer sporty shoe. I love this padded leather version in a military-chic olive green, and this knotted flatform is a more casual shoe with cool-girl edge.
When in doubt, you can find a pair of Birkenstocks. They just released a collaboration with STAUD, and I love the Arizona’s big gold buckle and brown croc-embossed leather. For a sleeker version, how about a shiny futuristic silver version? For something on the arty side, I love the contemporary appeal of this tonal colorblocking.
It’s time to get back into heels, but that doesn’t mean they have to be high! The barely-there, kittenish appeal of these Schutz black slides are timeless. Angel Alarcon’s strappy sandals are a minimalist’s dream. A strappy low heel in a bright color makes an easy statement, like these Ann Taylor white sandals or J.Crew’s hot pink kitten heel.
There’s just something incredibly chic and Jackie O on vacation in Greece about a fisherman’s sandal. The Row’s leather version is beyond elegant, but the best part about this shoe shape is it doesn’t have to be expensive! Anthropologie’s tan version is great.
It’s not exactly a fisherman’s sandal, but a sleek slide does continue the effortless tourist vibe. I love these new Guccis logo slides in brown leather, these black woven leather slides that feel like vintage Bottega, or a patent leather Saint Laurent shoe for extra drama.
