There are a lot of great things about living in LA, but one of the best is also the worst. The warm weather means I never get to really go all out when it comes to winter coats. It’s not until this time of year that I even need a coat to begin with. But every year, when the temps finally drop down to the 50s, I find myself itching to buy a new coat. This year is no exception.
There are so many styles and price points these days that buying a new coat doesn’t have to be a major investment. Mango’s oversized wool coat is an easy way to get that tailored, classic look at a great price. I also love their long puffer coat in that khaki green color that’s everywhere right now. J.Crew’s day coat is Italian wool and comes in an array of beautiful colors, if you want something with a little more visual punch. I love the red and the lavender.
COS’s long, thick fleece coat gives you the sherpa look for less. This navy Topshop number cinches at the waist for a flattering, ladylike shape. Alex Mill’s navy quilted number adds some serious style to a standard puffer coat. How about a corduroy shacket, if it’s not quite cold by you yet?
Ok, well, what if you’re ready to buy a coat as in investment piece? There are so many full-on stunning winter coats out there right now. Maybe you live somewhere colder and will really be able to get that cost per wear down. What about this insanely luxurious reversible shearling coat? Because it’s reversible, it’s like two coats for the price of one.
This knee length puffer coat is a little more practical, but every bit as stylish. Vince’s more formal, plaid long coat is the kind of menswear-inspired classic that’s totally on trend but also classic. Speaking of trendy, checkerboard is everywhere right now. Stand Studio’s navy and blue faux shearling coat is a much more subdued take on the print, but still delightful.
