When winter really hits, the best fashion cheat code is having a statement coat. A great coat means it doesn’t even matter what you’re wearing underneath. Even if you’re in old leggings and all-weather boots, you’re already stylish! When it comes to puffers, that means lots of fun colors and details like extra wide collars and precise proportions.
A puffer is a great way to add color and interest to your outfit. The biggest statement you can make with a puffer, to me, is this Norma Kamali leopard print sleeping bag coat. A bright blue or turquoise-y green coat from AQUA are great solid options. I am truly obsessed with it. If you’re crushing on the hot pink puffer in the header, we have a few options for you. On the splurgier side there’s this heavy duty Parajumpers puffer with fun details. Aqua’s Cire coat and Old Navy’s quilted puffer is still Barbie pink at a much friendlier price point.
Let’s get back to basics: Everlane’s ReNew puffer is the perfect everyday, elevated puffer. I like it in black the most, but it’s beautiful in a marshmallow-y white too. On the more neutral side of things, you can always play around with texture and go for something shiny. J. McLaughlin’s gold puffer is deeply chic, with the off-center buttons. Moncler’s patent-leather puffer is a classic investment piece, but you can get the look for (slightly) less with this SAM coat.
One of my favorite puffers is from the Gap, which has been looking really good lately. Their Big Puffer is an elevated version – but I can’t quite put my finger on why. I think it’s the relatively straight lines and ever-so-subtle belted middle section. The Big Puff also has a cropped version which is perfect to wear with high-waisted trousers.
