Snakeskin has slithered onto the runways and our Instagram feeds, and it’s not going to leave any time soon. Yes, there’s something undeniably sexy and slinky about the print. But it can also be extremely subtle and ladylike. That is to say, snakeskin is versatile. It can be whatever you want it to be. You just have to decide.
We love snakeskin for a strong statement shoe. This season, that could mean a knee-high bucket boot, perfect for tucked in straight leg jeans. Paris Texas is fashion’s favorite footwear brand at the moment, and their snakeskin boot makes it clear why. Staud’s Benny boot is a great option if you’re looking for something a little more affordable, plus it has a lower heel. A surprisingly fashionable silhouette that’s making waves in footwear is the clog. And this blue-gray version from Avec Moderation will make a believer out of anyone who doubts the power of the trend.
One of my favorite uses for the print is outerwear. Something Navy’s classic trench in the print feels fresh and brings some excitement to a classic closet staple. Bottega Veneta has a drop dead gorgeous leather trench coat that is so beautiful, it almost feels gluttonous. If you have a spare eight thousand dollars laying around in your coat budget, you should probably spend it on that.
A little bit of snakeskin can go a very long way, as demonstrated by these red Wolford tights. Wearing them will bring new life to any black midi skirt you have laying around in your closet. Finally, if you’re splurging on a ladylike piece this season, try this pleated calf-length skirt from Victoria Beckham.
