The summer sales can be overwhelming. With non stop marketing emails and 50% off alerts, it’s important to not buy items you’ll never wear again after the immediate rush wears off. We picked out classic pieces you can wear for the next month (or two), and next spring/summer as well.
This square-neck dress from Banana Republic is the perfect example of something you’ll still love a year from now. The thicker shoulder strap, the flattering a-line, and the perfectly lovely sky blue color are all timeless. A preppy, ladylike white eyelet blouse will always have Southern charm. Cream canvas and brown leather slip-ons from J.Crew will forever add interest to your go-to pair of white jeans.
A lot of these pieces are also perfect for that weird transitional period we’re about to enter. Take this Banana Republic striped poplin dress. Right now it can be a bathing suit coverup or something you throw on with your favorite flip flops. A couple months from now? It’ll look just as cute with a fun trench coat and knee-high boots. The same goes for this midi-length J.Crew button-up dress. One shape I’m seeing a lot of in the pre-fall collections is a blouse-y, boho peasant top with full sleeves. Like this Anthropologie top!
There are some things you can never get enough of in your wardrobe, like a really great t-shirt. I love the light linen weight and relaxed weight of this J.Crew option. Speaking of great shirts, I’ll never get sick of a striped button-down. The thicker stripe and lighter blue-and-white color palette of this menswear-inspired shirt can be worn all year long. What’s more evergreen than a great pair of jeans? Rag & Bone’s wide-leg jean, MOTHER’S white skinnies, and Joe’s cropped light wash jeans are all wonderful.
