Fourth of July is right around the corner, which means a lot of people have stars and stripes on the brain. Personally, it’s stripes that I can’t stop thinking about. There’s something about a classic stripe t-shirt or sweater that’s so beachy and summery, especially in blue and white.
The French know what I’m talking about, because their famously iconic Breton shirts do it perfectly. If you’re a Francophile, then Petit Bateau’s Fricotou tee is for you. J.Crew’s navy and white boatneck t-shirt is a little more structured in the shoulders.
More recently, American brands like Kule and Alex Mill have created their own signature stripe look. It’s a little more preppy, and a little more nostalgic. Alex Mill’s slub cotton t-shirt is insanely comfortable. This long-sleeved, light blue and white is from Kule, and looks cool. I also love this thick navy-and-white striped cotton sweater with a ribbed neck, which is about as classic as you can get.
You know I love a statement sleeve on a t-shirt, and this balloon sleeved, daintily striped number from Frame is ticking all my boxes. And, if you want to go all-out on the red, white, and blue – J.Crew’s cotton v-neck hoodie has you covered.
It’s not just t-shirts! These sporty, striped sandals put a preppy spin on the familiar Teva silhouette. These black and white striped Birkenstocks are graphic and contemporary, and look more like a piece of art than a pair of hippie sandals. Sometimes, because these are weird times we’re living in, you just need a notecard with a striped lining that says OY VEY.
The most important accessory of them all? A mask. This two-pack in a stylish stripe will keep you looking and (more importantly) feeling good.
