When I saw this picture of Lauren Hutton (my forever style icon) on Instagram, I immediately clicked save. It’s casual but still polished, cool but still elegant. It inspired me to get a pair of my own, so I rounded up the best looking pairs of track pants around the internet.
A black pair of track pants is the easiest way to start wearing the trend. Just think of them as a black trouser, although maybe a more comfortable one. Anthropologie’s Maeve pant, Zara’s knit version, and ME + EM’s tailored black travel pant are all versatile pieces. Just switch out a sweatshirt and sneakers for something slightly slinkier, like a silky blouse and ballet flats. Voila! You’ve instantly upgraded from running errands to running out to lunch.
One easy way to dress up the track pant? Switch up the fabric. Instead of the usual sweatsuit-adjacent cotton, go for something with a little more structure and shine. J.Crew’s side-stripe pant in satin is a perfect example! You get to keep all the sportiness, without sacrificing an ounce of comfort. It comes in either navy or a spring-y white.
You can always count on ME + EM to make an essential feel more special. Their convertible track pant comes in a striking burnt orange color, with a charcoal and cream stripe running down the side. I love the hang of these pants, how substantial they look. And! The zipper along the stripe means you can wear them as wide leg or straight leg. That’s basically two pants for one! The more subtle black snap Ponte pant feels more like a true sweat, but I love the way they’ve styled it with a button down and sharp blazer.
