When we talk about neutrals, grey gets left out of the conversation a lot. This fall outfit so perfectly shows everything I love about the color. The tonal look is sophisticated and grown-up, but not severe. The jeans keep it casual, but the heels and blazer add enough polish for drinks at the end of the day.
A knit polo is having a moment this season, in all kinds of weights of shapes. I love how it brings an extra element of formality but maximizes coziness. Maybe I’m just a sucker for a collar. Banana Republic’s ribbed merino, J.Crew’s cashmere sweater, or White + Warren’s polo are a perfect layering base. Throw a tonal gray blazer over that when you’re chilly, drape it over your shoulders when it warms up. ASTR has a boxy version. For the sleeker, statement piece is Favorite Daughter’s layered blazer. It skims the waist nicely!
Let’s talk denim. I love the casual, weathered blue of the jeans in the photo. It brings an ease and effortlessness to the ensemble. Banana Republic’s relaxed flare, ME + EM’s baggy jean, and Paige’s Leenah all have the perfect amount of lived-in charm.
Miu Miu’s super strappy slingback is everywhere this season, and the really good dupes have finally hit the market. There’s so much to love about this shoe! The primness of the pointed toe, the sexiness of the straps and the patent leather. It’s a perfect study in contrasts. You can pick up whichever version feels best for your price point: Steve Madden’s, Jeffrey Campbell’s, or J.Crew’s all do nicely!
Throw on some pearls as an additional reference to primness. Finish it off with black skinny oval sunglasses. A sleek final touch, like an exclamation point where you least expect it. Tory Burch’s pair is, predictably, a little more Jackie O. The Ray-Ban version is a little more minimal.
