Treat Your Feet to Sculptural Heels

Put your best foot forward in these objects of art.
by Brianna Porter August 14, 2018
Treat Your Feet to Sculptural Heels

There are shoes, and then there are shoes–objects so beautiful you almost feel guilty about walking around in them all day. Sculptural (or architectural) heels are such objects. The trend began last season, with cool contemporary brands like Jacquemus and J.W. Anderson sending them down the runway. Truly wonderful and well suited for those of us who like to walk in our shoes–with the minimum of negative impact on our feet and the maximum  impact on the eyes of the beholder.  For fall, the trend has even been co-opted by the ankle boot. Check out our round-up below.

Topshop Sculptured Heel Mules, $130

The starter sculpt.

Yuul Yie Block Heel Pump, $350

Old Hollywood silhouette with a new trend twist.

Rejina Pyo Conie Slingback Pumps, $610

A more accessible option, this sleek slingback’s heel looks like a piece of silver was subtly hand molded.

Yuul Yie Pearl Heel Slingback, $340

Jackie Kennedy once said, “Pearls are always appropriate.” Doubt she was talking about as a heel, but here we are.

Zara Round Heeled Leather Mule, $89.90

Two of the season’s best trends: sculptural heel and mules.

Yuul Yie Pearl Heel Boot, $430

The pearl is back but this time on a boot for anyone who’s sick of regular black ankle boots.

Topshop Hexagon Sculpture Heel Boot, $170

Geometry has never been so chic.

Neous Encyclia Boots, $750

White shoes are still white hot this season.

J.W. Anderson Cylinder Heel Ballet Shoe, $1050

This shoe is just wearable art. Put it in the MOMA.

Topshop Sculptural Heel Boot, $150

Even the Chelsea boot needs an update now and then.

Gray Matters Carmello Mule, $525

An interesting retro option for those who want to take their shoe trends to the extreme.
