Utility pants have snuck into my wardrobe and all of a sudden, I realized I wear it everyday. From walking Ruby to running errands, it’s become an essential for me. It’s one step above sweatpants, giving you a more polished option without having to sacrifice any comfort. Below, a few of my favorites from Nordstrom.
One way I avoid feeling too trendy when it comes to the utility pant? Picking a black pair. The color immediately gives the casual silhouette a more serious feel. These Pistola pants from Nordstrom can be styled just like your favorite black trousers, with a slingback and blazer. Mango’s pants are a deep black that immediately elevate the athletic-y details. I’d wear with my favorite sneakers and a cashmere hoodie. Even when the pant is an actual yoga pant, the black can make it way more versatile like these City Chic pants from Beyond Yoga.
But of course, you can’t ignore the classic colors for cargos: khaki and olive green. In the header image, I’m wearing these Sanctuary pants. I’ve been styling them like in the picture, with a pair of statement sneakers and a romantic lace blouse to give it a more feminine vibe. Count on Paige denim to do a trend the right way, like these green cargo pants with a kick flare cut. It reminds me of those High Sport pants everyone is talking about. They’re on the spendier side, but these Rag & Bone cream-y khaki cargos really rise to the price tag. You can also wear them year-round! Pairing with a monochromatic sweater or t-shirt really makes it feel even more rich.
