Like all great trends, velour has come roaring back to the fashion scene. The fabric had it’s first big wave during the Juicy Couture era, when Jen and Ben 1.0 were constantly being papped on the streets. Well, Jen and Ben 2.0 are going stronger than ever, and velour is popping up on athleisure once again. This time, it’s in comfy sweats that make you feel a little more put together when you’re doing the coffee run.
Feeling festive already? A rich, jewel-toned velour sweatsuit can certainly up the elegance factor and call to mind the holidays coming right around the corner. How about a cranberry-colored sweatshirt for lounging in post-Thanksgiving? Tory Burch Sport’s version has a little bit of retro, athletic flair thanks to its color-blocking with navy and white. Lush olive tones look great in velour too, whether it’s this Bandier set or this Kondi version.
Last week, we said navy is the new black. This week, we have the velour sweatsuits to prove it. Kule, one of my favorite brands for their take on modern American classics, has a navy velour sweatpant , and Tory Burch Sport has a matching zip-up and track pants set.
If you’re looking for some extra-stylish details, look no further than this vanilla-colored puff-shouldered top that brings a little more structure to the slouchy sweats look. I’m also obsessed with the polo collar and the dusty rose shade of this Les Tiens sweatshirt, which definitely elevates the humble sweatshirt. The bottoms of this turquoise pair of pants are slightly cropped and flared, making it feel fresher than your average jogger.
Remember the Juicy Couture heyday? The brand is back with another version of their trendy suits, and this black one with a small embellished logo is a more subtle take then their candy-colored past iterations.
