Have you noticed that things have gotten very ladylike lately? Maybe it’s the butterfly effect from last season’s Capote vs Swans, but lady who lunches is one of the defining looks this fall. Veronica Beard is one of the brands who pulls this off with the perfect amount of nostalgia and modernity.
When you think of Veronica Beard, their iconic blazers might be the first thing that come to mind. And with good reason! The Miller blazer is one of my favorite blazers of all time, especially since you can easily zip a dickey in and out for a different look without the weight of another layer. This season’s update is made with dark wash denim and brown leather trim.
The blazer takes a distinctly femme turn this season though, like with this blue-and-tan plaid tweed jacket or this double breasted blue-and-white tweed number. Both of those jackets invoke a certain Chanel-esque charm, as does this navy option with a white contrast border.
If we’re really getting ladylike, though, we have to talk about the good swish. I’m talking skirts. I’m talking dresses. I’m talking about this navy cotton shirtdress with a perfect A-line silhouette that I’ll wear with tall boots later, ballet flats now. This red-and-white polka dot shirtdress with long sleeves is a perfect transitional piece.
Don’t forget the accessories! How about a pair of perfect tobacco suede slingbacks? A snakeskin pair of pointed toe ankle booties to shake you out of your all-black comfort zone? Brown suede western-inspired boots that come with jewelry-esque gold hardware?
