There’s no fabric quite as luxe or sumptuous as velvet, is there? It makes everything feel like leisurewear but somehow looks more expensive. A longtime favorite of kings, queens, and yours truly, winter is the best time to throw on a pair of velvet palazzo pants and trick everyone into thinking you dressed up.
If you’re in the mood to properly stunt on your next event, how about an inky black velvet blazer with an array of ostrich feathers to bring the drama? Pair with velvet trousers or whatever black cigarette pants you have in constant rotation. If you’re looking for a jumpsuit, I love Self-Portrait’s crystal and lace embellished version that plays with texture while paying a little tribute to the 80s.
Black velvet is a popular choice, but there’s something about the richness of a deep jewel-tone hue that can really knock it out of the sartorial park. Attico’s electric blue evening bag will brighten up any outfit, and can even be worn well through spring thanks to the cheeriness of the color and the smattering of sequins. How about a ruby red pair of socks to throw on as your pop of color?
Speaking of color, we have practically every shade of trouser under the rainbow. Emerald green, pretty pink, and even a leopard print pair.
And finally, one beautiful chair. Because it’s glamorous, beautiful, and feminine. Which, coincidentally, is exactly the way velvet makes me feel.
