This April, it’s all about the easy and the breezy. Slip dresses have become one of my favorite pieces recently, because they really are as comfortable and as simple as the name suggests. Just slip into one and voila! It’s an outfit. To complete the transitional vibe, I’ve had my jean jacket and sneakers on heavy rotation. And because the sun’s coming out again, throwing a hat on for extra style and sun protection. See the rest of what I’m loving for April below.
Slip Dress
Let’s start with the more casual options before we work up to the slinky numbers. Jenni Kayne’s leopard slip dress is a perfect day dress, and J.Crew’s flowy v-neck dress has a similar loose, comfy vibe. Anine Bing’s Bree dress has a high neck and looks like something you would wear in a European garden, sipping on rosé. Are you going from a backyard cocktails to dinner party? This Vince satin slip dress in an inky midnight blue will always look good.
Jean Jacket
A jean jacket is a great transitional jacket, and an easy way to dress down a dress that feels a little too fancy for your day. You don’t have to spend too much to get a great one, like Levi’s Ex-Boyfriend Trucker jacket or H&M’s jean jacket for a slightly oversized look. J.Crew’s classic jacket is cut a little closer to the body, and Gap’s jacket is a dark-wash dream.
Sneakers
When it comes to spring sneakers, I’m looking for something a little more clean that can also feel elevated. The Adidas Stan Smith’s are a perfect example, especially with the fresh green details. The Alexander McQueen sneakers are an amped-up version of the Stan Smiths, with the same crisp white color and clean lines but with a chunky platform for height. Steve Madden’s sneaker gives you the same chunky look for a lot less. And if you’re looking for something a little more colorful, this Gucci tennis sneaker is retro-inspired nostalgia at its finest.
Hat
A hat is a great way to a) protect your pretty face and b) add a little bit of texture into your outfit. Right now, I’m into straw or rattan woven bucket hats. It’s a chicer way to get in on the bucket hat craze, and I love this Anthropologie hat that comes in natural tan or black. Madewell’s hat is a great take, too.
