It’s June, people are out and about again, and I’m ready for life to get back to normal. The old normal, that is. So what am I loving for June? My closet right now is all about practical but pretty pieces: think stunning sundresses and cool jumpsuits that I can throw on for an effortless look. Flip-flops, of course, for by the beach hanging. And gold hoops, because they make me feel like J.Lo. Happy summer!
Jumpsuits
A jumpsuit is like the ultimate getting dressed hack. It’s an entire outfit in one easy piece, and there’s a cool-girl edge to it. J.Crew’s linen blend jumpsuit is a favorite of mine right now. The sharp collar and tailoring keep it polished but casual, in colors like sand and pale blue. There’s also a cotton poplin one in a navy and white stripe I like. Madewell’s coverall jumpsuit in white is the ultimate in cool minimalism, but it comes in pink too!
Flip-Flops
There are so many kinds of flip-flops, from the super casual poolside ones to the dressed up kind you slip on with a sundress. Jack Rogers makes my favorite dressy pair, with beautiful stitching in contrasting colors for a classic with a preppy bend. Mango’s black leather sandals are affordable but still chic, and their platform thong is a great way to get height without sacrificing comfort.
If you want to splurge on a pair, look no further than this Gucci pair with the tricolor strap. They’ll look amazing with jeans, skirts, sundresses – you name it. You could also indulge in the gold t-strap sandal if that’s more your silhouette.
Sundresses
Just like jumpsuits, sundresses are a one-stop shop for getting dressed this summer. Whether you’ve forgotten how to put together an outfit or it’s too hot to worry about it, just throw on a voluminous number with killer accessories and you’ve got it. Mango’s lilac dress is delicious, Tuckernuck’s dress is pale pink color and has a fun statement sleeve, and La Garconne’s gathered white dress is as refreshing as a summer breeze. J.Crew’s sunny yellow dress will cheer up any day, and & Other Stories wrap dress will look great on any body type.
Hoops
Something about summer makes me want to wear gold. You’re tan (fake or not), and usually a little bit shiny, and a gold pair of hoops can turn any outfit into a showstopper. Laura Lombardi’s ridged hoops are a refreshing, retro-inspired take. Sophie Buhai’s are perfect for everyday wear. Go bigger and thinner with these razor-sharp CompletedWorks hoops to make a statement.
