April showers bring May flowers, and that’s true of my wardrobe too. So what am I loving for May? I’m not always into skirts, but there’s something about the sunshine and fresh spring air that has me reaching for a femme, flirty skirt. You can dress it up or down, with a t-shirt or blouse. All you need to add is a summery jacket, a fun clutch, and easy sandals. Voila! It’s your go-to outfit this month.
Floral Skirt
The bolder, the better this season. Don’t be afraid to really go for it with a colorful, graphic pattern or a really splashy floral. When in styling doubt, you can always just throw on a white t-shirt. I’m wearing the BURU trumpet skirt, which feels retro and modern at the same time. I love the subtle blue damask fabric! The brand’s Everyday Skirt comes in a cheerful pink poppy.
This Pomander skirt in a painterly stripe is fun and eye-catching, with a flattering wrap skirt silhouette. Speaking of painterly, the Wisteria skirt from Mara Hoffman is like wearable art, with it’s watercolor inspired pattern and bold color palette. For a more subtle spin, how about J.Crew’s Liberty of London collaboration?
Spring Jacket/Blazer
I’m loving a ladies-who-lunch vibe these days, which I’m channeling through boxier, Chanel-inspired blazers in fun colors and tweed. This L’Agence blazer in tweed and denim has some modern edge, and this powder-blue grid blazer has contemporary, graphic appeal. This Pearl Baldwin Jacket looks like something Jackie O would wear around Greece.
Looking for something more casual? J.Crew’s quilted Liberty of London jacket is for you.
Clutch
We’re going out again, so we need cute little going out bags. I’m talking about retro-chic pouches from Loeffler Randall like this mint green cinch clutch and mini cloud clutches by Mansur Gavriel, in periwinkle blue and saddle brown.
For more of an everyday bag, you can’t go with Clare V’s classic flat clutch. And speaking of classic, if you’re going to splurge it might as well be on this timeless YSL leather chain wallet.
Sandal
I love heels again! Small, comfortable ones at least. Steve Madden’s Twinkled sandal, Dolce Vita’s Noles City Slide, and the Vince Camuto Semtera sandal are all on heavy rotation for me.
