This October, it’s all about finding new ways to wear old favorites. Leggings get a fresh update by going back to the stirrup trend of years ago – but this time I’m wearing them with boots and my favorite white shirt, so it feels a little more grown up. Throw in a classic leather jacket and a few trendy pieces like this season’s sweater vest, and you’ve got a recipe for a seriously great wardrobe this month.
Leggings
The stirrup legging is back, and I’m extremely into it this time around with a boot or a slingback heel. Also great? The newer version going around that’s more of a slit than a stirup, which breaks up the line of the leg like this Alo pair, or this B.P. side slit pair.
White Shirt
Ok so nothing new here, but there’s always a new shape to add into the closet. Mango’s shirt is extra-long and cut a little slimmer, so it’s perfect for layering. Grammar’s Adjective tunic is an absolute showstopper. Wear it on its own with your favorite pants, tons of jewelry, and a statement shoe. Jenni Kayne’s boyfriend shirt is the menswear-inspired shirt of your dreams.
Leather Jacket
You can go for biker-chick cool in a jacket from All-Saints or Ralph Lauren, but if biker-chick isn’t really your style you can get the same edge with a leather blazer. I love this one from Bernando, or Paige’s Aventura blazer.
Sweater Vest
It’s not for everyone, but a sweater vest is a great way to layer. This Frankie Shop cable-knit cream sweater, this Fore houndstooth vest, or this cashmere vest are all favorites. Give off Chanel vibes with this oversized tweed vest from Mango, styled over your favorite white blouse or t-shirt.
Chelsea Boot
Finish off the fit with a Chelsea boot that marries style and comfort. If you’re into lug-sole, there are a couple options to do it subtly. This COS pair has a chunky sole and a higher boot, and these Citywalk leather boots from Madewell are a little more streamlined.
