Thanksgiving dinner this year is going to look a lot different. Thankfully, I’ll be able to be with my family, which I know isn’t the case for everyone. That makes me very lucky! But a more intimate, casual Thanksgiving requires a more casual outfit. And no matter how many people are there, I’ll be eating a lot, so it has to be comfortable. My recipe for the perfect Thanksgiving outfit? Fun top + an easy pant = sartorial success.
The real star of this outfit is going to be a fun top. Also, it should be loose. Turkey and mashed potatoes, remember? But you can still dress it up with design-y details. Add a dramatic sleeve! I love the frills on this Ulla Johnson sweater. Mango has a similar look for a lot less with this textured blouse. The asymmetric, loopy detail on this white 3.1 Phillip Lim sweater is great.
It’s been a year of reinvented cable knits, and this one from Ronny Kobo is particularly great.
Not sure what an easy pant is? Just a pair of pants with an elastic waistband or a lot of room to breathe. So, every pair pants I’ve worn during COVID. But just because they’re seriously comfortable doesn’t mean they can’t be seriously stylish. Look at these silver wide-leg velvet pants from Anthropologie! Or this pair of slouchy but polished navy velvet pants from Boden!
Maybe you don’t want something quite so flashy. That’s fine. We have options, baby. This pair of black knit high rise pants at Nordstrom have the perfect flare. You could always go for an ankle crop, if that’s more your speed. Club Monaco’s navy suede joggers might look fancy, but how fancy can they really be if they’re joggers?
