Sometimes, you don’t care about what’s trending. You want what you know you look and feel good in, and usually those are the classics. And no one does classic better than J.Crew. Ever since it launched in 1983, the company has been making preppy but approachable classics like cashmere sweaters, boyish blazers, and skinny jeans. I mean, the header picture with supermodels is from the brand’s 2014 style catalog! Good style is timeless.
This fall, more than ever, I’m relying on J.Crew because let’s face it – there really aren’t any trends. Sweaters are my favorite category of clothing, full-stop. You know what that means: cashmere. A crewneck cashmere sweater in a luxe neutral, like this camel-colored piece or this always-cool black, is a wardrobe staple.
And turtlenecks may be the best of them all. This turtleneck poncho, with its swingy silhouette and cozy pockets, is the perfect thing to snuggle up and read in. This striped turtleneck helps me live out my French girl fantasy.
Corduroy seems to be having a moment, and these black straight-leg pants or this slate-gray pair make it easy to see why. These slouchy, army-inspired pants are perfect for walking around and admiring the foliage.
I love the idea of wearing an oversized blazer over leggings or my comfiest jeans. It looks great on Zoom calls, but let’s me wear my favorite comfy white shirt underneath or even just a t-shirt. This autumnal plaid one would be great to have for the holidays, and this extra-long black one goes with everything.
I’m so into quilted jackets this year, and this army green with brown lining option makes me feel like I’m running around my English country house. This navy one is just as good, and both would spiff up any running errands look.
