I believe that you should wear your clothes as often as you can, which means getting a little creative in the winter. I know the rule about no white after Labor Day. I just refuse to adhere to it! Paired with an extra-cozy cashmere sweater or your favorite blazer, all you need is a pair of a boots for a perfect winter outfit.
My go-to jean silhouette right now is a more dramatic, wider leg. It instantly makes any outfit feel a little more special. A looser jean gives you a dose of cool girl nonchalance, the true embodiment of “I just threw this on”. Banana Republic’s 90s jean is a perfect example. Imagine with a white shirt half-tucked in, or a borrowed-from-the-boys sweater. Easy, elegant, and elevated. Frame’s The Stroll wide leg jean is another great example, which I would wear with a fitted blazer and pointy-toed boots.
Personally, I like a slightly looser jean. But sometimes in the winter, when I’m wrapped in cashmere, boots, and a coat, it’s nice to streamline a bit. Veronica Beard’s skinny flare jean still balances out your silhouette, but keeps things nice and sleek. I also love the extra high-waist! Perfect for tucking in a long sleeve shirt or thin sweater. The lines of the jean also make you look extra-long. Especially if you wear with a pair of heeled boots.
Ruti’s iconic fitted jean is a true skinny jean. While I normally don’t love a skinny, it’s nice to be able to tuck them into a pair of tall boots! AYR, a brand who built their reputation on basics that fit perfectly, also have a great pair. The Stir is a classic stovepipe skinny, and I like the slightly cropped length for showing off new loafers or ballet flats.
